What does "big back" mean?

Big back is Gen Z slang for a person with excessive — okay, legendary — eating habits. If you go back for thirds at the buffet, hide snacks from yourself, or plan your day around meals, someone has probably called you a big back. Lovingly. Probably.

Where did it come from?

The term spread through short-video platforms, where "big back activities" became the caption for any gloriously greedy food behavior: unhinged portions, snack stockpiling, finishing other people's plates "as cleanup." It's self-deprecating comedy — people mostly use it on themselves before anyone can use it on them.

Is it an insult?

Used wrong, any word can be one. The meme at its best roasts behavior — the thirds, the stash, the "just one more bite" that meant eleven — and never anyone's body. That's the only version we make here.

So... am I one?

There's exactly one way to find out.
